I have never watched Dancing With the Stars before this season, but I'm hooked now. I really started watching because I love Kristi Yamaguchi (and her husband Bret - Go Canes!). But I really like Jason and Edyta too. He is H-O-T. I don't watch football, but maybe I should.
We haven't watched Heroes yet, but How I Met Your Mother should be renamed How NPH Rocks My World. Jason Segel (Marshall) was hilarious this episode as well.
The last scene was awesome. The website is real. Don't go there unless you've already seen tonight's episode.
I'm gonna copy Cori and have my own hunk day here. I can't wait until Men in Trees comes back on! Well, not just for the hunks. I love the show too. Much better than Grey's Anatomy which sucks big ones now: "Wah, my name is Meredith, I have such a hard life. I'll dump Patrick Dempsey now. Whine whine whine. I can eat all I want and I never gain wait. Feel sorry for me." =P
Today unintentionally ended up being all about movies for me. In a post today (well yesterday because it's late), Eiron noted how she feels bad watching a DVD while putting off studies, but aimless channel surfing doesn't seem so bad. That is exactly what kept me watching movies on TV all day today. First, I flipped around and decided to watch "Singles," which was on Showtime on Demand. It has been at least ten years since I saw this the first time, and it is so much better watching it now that I've actually been through the adult dating scene. I suggest a re-watch if it has been a while for you as well. As a teenager, I liked it but didn't quite get it.
Then - because I wouldn't want to actually get something done on my final project today - I flipped to another On Demand channel. There I decided on "The Lake House," which I have not seen. I liked it, but it seemed a little disjointed at times. The twist isn't much of a twist, but I like Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock even in their bad roles. Other actors in the same story may not have been as fun to watch. I also wanted some sort of explanation of why this little glitch in time happened, but I never got it.
I can't say I actually watched Pretty Woman today because I only saw part of it. I did see the best part, in which Richard Gere makes the store clerks suck up to Julia Roberts (forgive me for not knowing the characters' names). Then she goes to the girl that was bitchy the day before and says, "Big mistake." I love it. Nothing quite so heartwarming as a filthy rich guy buying a hooker for a week and falling in love, eh? ;)
For the grand finale of this movie day, I went to a friend's house and we watched "Stranger Than Fiction." It was awesome! I am definitely going to buy the DVD and watch it over and over again. If you like to read and tend to get attached to the characters in books, you'll love this. We were supposed to all be knitting while we watched, but it was so good that we were all on the edges of our seats. Definitely a must see. I think I'll post a more extensive review tomorrow rather than sticking it in at the bottom of this post.
Lest my neighbors think that I got nothing done today, I had a second wind when I got home from my friend's place. I did the article summary portion and got a few other things ironed out as well. So I guess it wasn't a complete wash.
I have been watching a new show on TBS called My Boys. It's really funny (Jim Gaffigan is always hilarious), and it must be written by a "guy's girl." It's about this girl who is a sports journalist and has a big group of guy friends and one girly-girl friend. It's really funny to watch her go through a lot of the things I did when I was still dating.
I have always been this girl. I'm the one that likes beer, sports, and video games. Naturally, I've always had a bevy of guy friends because we share some of the same interests. Unfortunately, this also means that dating was a pain in the ass. Of course I couldn't date my friends because it might threaten our friendship. I also think that guys like having girlfriends who need to have football (or whatever sport) explained to them. It makes them feel "manly" I guess. I've never been one to go out of my way to make a guy feel like a man. It has always been funny to watch my girlfriends do it though. I had one friend who would change her political beliefs at the drop of a hat depending on what the guy she was dating thought. She voted for Nader in 2000 and Bush in 2004. How is that for a change of heart?!
But I digress. Watch this show, especially if you're a "guy's girl."
Tonight we'll be giving out candy to trick-or-treaters and watching TV. Hopefully, we can catch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" at some point. What is everyone else doing? Giving out candy or dressing up and going out? I have a research paper to finish so no fun for me except seeing cute kids in costumes. I hope we get a lot this year. We have way too much candy.
